The Sufferings of Christ

2019-11-05

Consider the sufferings of Christ, the lashes of the whips, the points of the thorny crown, hands pierced by iron, lungs crushed by the weight of a body in agony. This the physical pain. Gruesome. Humanity’s weapon to show power.

This a small taste of the true agony of the cross. Each lash forming a searing shape of iniquity, each thorn’s point a visceral anchor of scorn. The weight of treason crushing the air from His lungs as He bore the load of darkness formed by our hands. His body light but our corruption heavy on His shoulders. The physical violence a dull image forming the sea of pain into coherent shapes.
